1823 - The Little Chapel, Winthrop University’s First Home, was Built in Columbia SC
1856 - David Bancroft Johnson, Winthrop’s Founder, was Born in La Grange, Tennessee.
1873 - Woodrow Wilson Makes His Confession of Faith in the Little Chapel
1883 - David Bancroft Johnson is Appointed Columbia, S.C. School Superintendent
1886 - Johnson Receives $1,500 Appropriation from the Peabody Education Board Headed by Robert Charles Winthrop
