Description
In 1896, Winthrop YWCA Chapter was organized. The first president of the YWCA was a faculty member, Leila Russell. The YWCA was the central organization around which all campus life revolved. In the fall of 1947, the YWCA was replaced by the Winthrop Christian Association.
