Jane "Miss Janie' Revill was born March 2, 1888 and died February 17, 1971. She was an historian and author who was known as a leading genealogist in South Carolina.

Scope and Content Note

An Abstract of Moore Records of South Carolina 1694 - 1865 by Janie Revill is a compilation of instances of the surname Moore and its varied spellings in the records of South Carolina between 1694 and 1865; mainly in wills and land records. The volume contains information from Abbeville, Anderson, Barnwell, Charleston, Chester, Darlington, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens, Marlborough, Newberry, Richland, Spartanburg, Sumter, Union, Williamsburg, and York Counties. Many other family surnames are mentioned in the compiled records. Please see the attached foreword.
