Scope and Content Note
The Assistance Agency Report consists of a report titled Activities and Accomplishments of Assistance Agencies in South Carolina prepared by Lawrence M. Pinckney, State Director for South Carolina, Office of Government Reports in December 1939. The report “was prepared to acquaint the citizens of South Carolina with the manifold public services of governmental assistance agencies, both Federal and State, operating in South Carolina.” Included are reports of the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps, Farm Credit Administration, Farm Security Administration, Federal Housing Administration, Forest Service, Home Owner’s Loan Corporation, National Park Service, National Youth Administration, Public Works Administration, Social Security Board, Soil Conservation Service, South Carolina Public Service Authority, State Department of Public Welfare, South Carolina Unemployment Compensation Commission and Work Projects Administration.
