Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of 67 fiche which contains an alphabetical (by surname) index of compiled by chapters of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, of tombstone inscriptions that were collected by the Works Progress Administration in its partial survey of South Carolina cemeteries in the 1930s. The index lists the full name, inclusive dates and location of each inscription recorded from the approximately 350 cemeteries surveyed.
