Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of the October 7, 2007 church bulletin and the October 2007 church newsletter titled Grace Notes from Grace Lutheran Church on Oakland Avenue in Rock Hill, SC. This issue of Grace Notes contains an article about Winthrop’s Blue Line (sometimes called Church Line). The article also details some of the connections between Grace Lutheran Church and Winthrop including the location of Grace Lutheran Church in part being a desire to be close to the school. Also included in this collection is a letter from Winthrop graduate, Naomi Banks Bridges to Gina Price White, Director of the Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections which details Mrs. Bridges personal connection to Winthrop. Her husband Gus Bridges’ mother Lucile Bridges was a Winthrop graduate and was one of the 23 charter members when Grace was organized in 1923 Also, her two daughters, Kathy and Linda, also graduated from Winthrop.
