Scope and Content Note
The Joshua LeLand Abell Family Papers consists of an account ledger for a store owned by E. H Abell in Lowrysville, SC (now known as Lowrys, SC) and a photograph album includes Abell family photographs, most of which are unidentified. The account ledger gives a sampling of everyday life at the turn of the century in Chester County such as costs of various items and services and is also a great source for names of various Chester County residents.
The Joshua L. Abell Family Papers were deposited with the Archives in May, 1984, by Helen Abell, Assistant Professor of Special Education at Winthrop College.
