Historical Note
Landon Covington Bell (1880-1960) was a lawyer and noted author of history and genealogy who compiled and published vital records for a number of counties in Virginia. He graduated from Milligan College in Tennessee in 1900 and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1902.

Charles Parish, York County, Virginia: History and Registers by Landon C. Bell covers Births 1648-1789 and Deaths 1665-1787 in Charles Parish. York County, VA was formed in 1634 as Charles River County and renamed York County in 1643. It is the parent county for Gloucester and New Kent counties. The records are arranged in the original order as recorded and includes a complete index. Please see attached scan of the Index.
