Scope and Content Note
The Lindsay Crawford McFadden Certificate of Commission was given in the State of South Carolina, for the Volunteer State Troops. Lindsay Crawford McFadden (1881-1961) was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Company H., First Infantry given by Gov. M. F. Ansel on April 5, 1907. The South Carolina Volunteer State Troops were the equivalent of the State Militia or State Guard. Lindsay McFadden would later serve in WWI and is buried in Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC.
