Scope and Content Note
The Henry F. White Collection consists of an arithmetic notebook (1830-1831) belonging to Henry F. White, given to the Winthrop College Museum by his grandson W.H. White of Catawba, South Carolina in 1945. The notebook contains excellent examples of early 19th century penmanship and arithmetical lessons including equations and rules taught at an unknown school (possibly Ebenezer Academy?). There is a mention of a teacher named David Daniel.
Provenance
The Henry F. White Collection was given to the Winthrop College Museum by his grandson W.H. White of Catawba, South Carolina in October 1945. The notebook was later transferred to the Winthrop Archives and processed on April 28, 1986.
