Mrs. Isabel Jackson Oates (ca1906-1998) was married to John H. Oates and was a member of Tirzah ARP Church since 1924, where she belonged to the Women's Society of Tirzah ARP Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the DAR Catawba Chapter. Mrs. Oates for over 50 years did extensive mission work in the mountains of North Carolina.

Mrs. Isabel Jackson Oates (ca1906-1998) was married to John H. Oates and was a member of Tirzah ARP Church since 1924, where she belonged to the Women's Society of Tirzah ARP Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the DAR Catawba Chapter. Mrs. Oates for over 50 years did extensive mission work in the mountains of North Carolina. The Isabel Oates Papers consists of a reminiscence, photographs, and newspaper clippings relating to Western North Carolina and its people, as well as Mrs. Oates’ experience as a missionary in the Appalachian mountains.
