Susan Gayle Ludvigson is a Professor Emeritus in the English Department at Winthrop University. She is an accomplished poet and was inducted into the South Carolina Academy of Authors, the state's literary Hall of Fame on April 25, 2009.

She is an accomplished poet and was inducted into the South Carolina Academy of Authors, the state's literary Hall of Fame on April 25, 2009.The Susan Gayle Bartels Ludvigson Papers consist of an employment vita, correspondence, galley proofs, promotional material for writer’s conferences, contractual agreements, awards and newspaper clippings, mainly relating to the publication of Ms. Ludvigson’s first volume of poetry, entitled, Step Carefully in Night Grass, and to the publication of her other poems in literary magazines, prominent periodicals and journals.

The papers of Susan Gayle (Bartels) Ludvigson, educator and poet, were deposited with the Winthrop Archives on October 24, 1978 by Susan Ludvigson.
