Scope and Content Note
The Julie Lumpkin Papers consists of Julie’s work during the first part of the 1980’s. Her freelance writing appeared in newspapers, magazines, and special projects such as brochures for beach condos or children’s homes. This collection contains correspondence between Julie and different publishers, along with drafts from her editing process. The collection also contains minutes and financial information from her time on the board at Killingsworth Home for Women and the National Organization for Women (NOW). Killingworth Home for Women is a Columbia, SC based nonprofit “committed to helping women lead sober and clean lives.” The National Organization for Women (NOW) was organized to improve the status and life of South Carolina Women and to aid in efforts toward the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
