Historical Note
The Philological Association of the Carolinas was founded in 1977 with the purpose of, as stated in their constitution, exploring and exchanging ideas within the area of philological studies, that is the areas of literature, linguistics and related fields.
Scope and Content Note
The Philological Association of the Carolinas Records consist of correspondence, evaluation sheets, registration forms, research papers, program notes, and newspaper clippings concerning the founding of the Association, its first annual meeting at Winthrop, and the presentation of papers at the meeting.
Provenance
The papers of the Philological Association of the Carolinas were deposited in the Winthrop College Archives on September 13, 1977 by Dr. Don Joiner, Professor of Modern and Classical Languages at Winthrop College.
