Historical Note
Billy Austin Shepherd (1930–2023) worked at Winthrop University part-time from 1976 to 1978 and full-time from December 1978 to 1980. During his tenure, he served as Director of Placement and Career Planning and as an Assistant Professor of Management. A native of Fayette, Alabama, Shepherd earned a B.S. in Industrial and Personnel Management from the University of Alabama (1958), an M.R.E. in Psychology from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (1960), and an M.S. in Business Administration from Winthrop College (1982). He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954.
Scope and Content Note
The Bill Shepherd Sheet Music Collection primarily consists of sheet music related to World War I and World War II collected by Billy Austin Shepherd. The collection includes 96 pieces dating from 1912 to 1971, with most materials originating from the periods 1916–1918 and 1940–1944.
Provenance
The Bill Shepherd Collection were given to the Archives on January 16, 2012 by Mr. Bill Shepherd.
