Scope and Content Note
The McCandless Family Papers consists of photographs and photo albums of the McCandless family, mostly from Chester, SC, and those related to them. Many of these photographs are tintypes, ambrotypes, and carte de visites. This collection also has a 10 ¾ x 13 ½ inch portrait photograph of Isabella Caldwell. Most of the photographs are of the McCandless family, but the Caldwell, Crawford, and Smythe Families appear prominently. The other family names featured include: Alexander, Beaty, Burdell, Craig, Curry, Herbeson, McCaughey, McElwie, Miller, Morrison, Meely, Pooser, Priestly, Russel, Saye, and Wherry.
