Scope and Content Note
This collection includes two Navy buttons that belonged to Dr. Jean Olivia Love who was a 1949 Winthrop graduate with a Masters in Psychology. The buttons were issued Ensign Jean Love while she served in the Navy during World War II and both contain a photograph of her. Dr. Jean Olivia Love (1920-2015) was born in York County, South Carolina and lived in McConnellsville. She went on to receive her doctorate from the University of North Carolina and then started a long career as a Professor of Psychology at Lebanon Valley College until she retired in 1985. She was also chairman of the Psychology Department from 1954-1970).
