This collection consists of the Inaugural Address January 10, 1979) and State of the State Address (January 17, 1979) delivered by South Carolina Governor Richard W. Riley. Richard Wilson “Dick” Riley (1933-) is an South Carolina politician who was South Carolina State Senator from 1967-1977, was the 11th Governor of South Carolina from 1979-1987, and served as 6th United States Secretary of Education from 1993-2001. Winthrop University named its College of Education the Richard W. Riley College of Education in 2000.
