Abstract
Grounded in research as well as interviews with women around Louisville, this paper examines the always-complicated issue of “hair politics” and how women use their hair to express identity and culture. If feminism should be about full inclusivity, how do conversations about ,and statements with, hair create spaces for authentic agency and validating body politics while potentially moving beyond them? From Kylie Jenner to questions of veils and hair coverings, issues of cultural appropriation, identity, and intersectionality in relation to hair are historicized and explored in this discussion.
