Historical Note

John Theodore Merz [1840-1922] was a British born chemist, historian, and industrialist. He was the author of philosophical works on Leibniz, Religion and Science, and the History of European Thought in the Nineteenth Century. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz [1646-1716] was a prominent German polymath and philosopher in the history of mathematics and the history of philosophy.
