Historical Note

An annual publication of the British satirical magazine Punch. The weekly magazine's first edition debuted on July 17, 1841. The publication had financial difficulties until the editor put out a large annual edition titled Punch's Almanack and was purchased by Bradbury & Evans publishing house. Punch's Pocket Book was a condensed version of the larger Almanack that could be carried in one's pocket and enjoyed everywhere.
