Presenter Bio

Starr Albert Ms. Starr attended Winthrop as a transfer student and received a Bachelor of Science in Education and graduated in May 1978. Currently Starr is working in the Office of Admissions as the Campus Visit Engagement Specialist. She loves working at the front desk meeting and greeting everyone who enters that office. Recruitment is her game and she starts with the young toddlers, students in elementary school, middle school and high school age students, transfers, military and veterans up to the senior citizens. No one leaves the office until they have been encouraged to check out Winthrop’s beautiful campus, experience a campus tour or check out Starbucks or the Bookstore. You will see and hear her at several athletic events like lacrosse, volleyball and the men and women’s basketball games. (She would love to get back out there and join if she could!)

Pam Varraso Let me introduce to you, Pamela T. Varraso graduated from Massasoit Community College with a degree in Secretarial Science and a minor in Biology. After moving to Rock Hill, she owned and operated Mrs. Clean for 3 years and had 8 employees and over 160 clients. At the end of 3 years, she knew using her mind would be better than scrubbing the rest of her life and went to York Technical College and earned a second Associates Degree in Administrative Assistant’s program. She worked in Student Activities for York Technical College for 4 years producing the school new letter, advising incoming students and was the advisor of the School Ambassador program. When Winthrop had a full time position in Student Life, she jumped at the chance to work here. Frank Ardaiolo and Tom Web hired her in 2001 and that was the beginning of her Winthrop Career. Currently, she is the Administrative Assistant II in Student Activities, Chair of the Campus Community Involvement Committee, on the planning committee for C.R.O.P. , has gardens in 4 differe3nt places in town, and the Rock Hill Educational Garden and in her words, “That is enough”.
