Description
In 1923, Winthrop's student newspaper changes it's name from Winthrop weekly News to The Johnsonian. The Johnsonian was named in honor of Winthrop's founder and first president, Dr. David Bancroft Johnson. The Johnsonian would be a true student publication where the students wrote and edited the paper, while it's predecessor the Winthrop weekly News overseen more by Winthrop faculty.
This image is of the masthead of The Johnsonian from September 22, 1939.
