Historical Note
Dorothy Sealy was born on January 11, 1915 to John B. and Lillian Sealy. She was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina and was the oldest of four siblings. Her father was an employee at Winthrop University from 1910 to 1954.
Dorothy started Winthrop College in 1932 as a part of the Winthrop Training School. In 1955 Dorothy worked for the Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church as the Presbyterian student worker at Winthrop College. She later became Secretary of Guidance and Placement in 1962. In 1966 she became the Director of Alumnae Affairs, and she continued doing that until her retirement in 1980.
Scope and Content Note
The Dorothy Rauch Papers consist of copies of the Winthrop Alumnae Magazine, scrapbooks, 1910 Winthrop College yearbook, photographs, biographical data on Dorothy Rauch and her father Mr. J. B. Sealy, scholarship plaque, ceramic plates, and a Winthrop Training School jacket. Dorothy Rauch was the former Winthrop Director of Alumnae Affairs from 1966-1980.
