Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of a booklet title, The Women's Association For the Improvement of Rural Schools in South Carolina issued from the State Superintendent of Education in 1906. The booklet includes the Woman’s Association for the Improvement of Rural Schools constitution, its history, purpose and results, as well as several instructional sections explaining how to improve country schools. The association was begun at the urging of Dr. David Bancroft Johnson, President of Winthrop College, to improve the state of South Carolina's rural schools.
