Historical Note
The compiler, Herman W. Ferguson, was born in 1916. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in Geology. He worked for the Tennessee Department of Conservation and became State Geologist in 1951. He joined U S Steel in 1952 and retired from the corporation in 1982. He served in the Navy during WWII.
Scope and Content Note
Descendants of James and Elizabeth Fleming Ferguson, Bedford County (now Marshall), Tennessee compiled by Herman W. Ferguson chronicles the genealogy and family history of the Fleming and Ferguson families. Other family names include Brittain, Dudley, and Stephens among others. The book also contains biographical sketches, photographs, maps, and transcriptions of documents. Please see the attached Table of Contents and Index.
