The collection consists of a publication titled, A Lecture On The Origin And Development Of The First Constituents Of Civilization published in Columbia, SC in 1845. The publication consist of the printed text from a lecture given by Francis Lieber (1798 or 1800-1872) on the Origin and Development of the first Constituents of Civilisation in 1845. Francis Lieber was a German born jurist and political philosopher who would later become professor of history and political science at South Carolina College (now the University of South Carolina) from 1836 through 1856.
