Mary L. Wells was a Secretary at the Winthrop Library from 1970-1981.
Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of a painting done by Mary L. Wells of the Bratton House at which is part of Historic Brattonsville near McConnells, SC. The Bratton House was built around 770 and is one of the oldest structures in York County, SC. The house belonged to Colonel William Bratton and was the located near the site of the Battle of Huck’s Defeat in May 1780 during the American Revolutionary War.
