Rock Hill, SC was incorporated in 1852 and is the largest city in York County, South Carolina. Rock Hill, SC is the home of Winthrop University.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of Rock Hill Is a Good Town: Rock Hill South Carolina 1912 which was a viewbook produced by the town of Rock Hill, SC as a pictorial guide and as an invitation to potential newcomers. The viewbook contains pictures of Rock Hill churches, houses, parks, cotton mills and other mills, factories, fields, streets, banks, Winthrop scenes and buildings, hotels, the post office, the power plant, and scenes of Rock Hill life. Also, included are three maps of Rock Hill and the surrounding area. A few pages are devoted to describing Rock Hill life for the purpose of demonstrating how the town has grown.

Additional Notes

This piece originally belonged to Edith Bigby Tribble; a Winthrop University Graduate, Class of 1912 before being passed on to her daughter Mrs. Edith Chapin (also, the donor).
