Historical Note
Nathaniel Lebby (1740-1802), born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 1763. The name was sometimes spelled Libby and Lebbey. He married Elizabeth Howard daughter of Colonel Robert Howard on March 4, 1764. They had six children.
Scope and Content Note
Nathaniel Lebby, Patriot and Some of His Descendants by E. Detreville Ellis chronicles the family history of the Lebby family of South Carolina from the 1700s through 1967. In addition to genealogical information, the volume includes photographs, transcriptions of Lebby family documents and letters, endnotes, a bibliography and an index. Please see the attached Table of Contents and Index.
