Bertha Smith (1888-1988) was a Winthrop graduate in 1913 and served 42 years as a Baptist missionary to China, 1917-1959. Miss Smith was a resident of Cowpens, South Carolina.
Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of a booklet written and signed by Bertha Smith (1888-1988) concerning the history of the Cowpens Community, SC and battleground written in honor the United States Bicentennial. In this publication Miss Smith writes a brief history of the Battle of Cowpens and then writes about her family and personal recollections of the history of the Cowpens community through her family and personal experiences.
