Historical Note
The Williford family are of Dutch-Irish origins. James Michum Williford was born February 18, 1828 and moved from Mooresville, N.C. to the area that would become Rock Hill, S.C. in 1840.

The Williford Family of South Carolina consists of genealogical information concerning the Williford family of York County, South Carolina and surrounding areas compiled by Willie May Williford Johnston (1916-2015) titled, “The Williford Family of South Carolina: A Genealogical Record of the Williford Family of York County, South Carolina and Surrounding Counties, As it Spread into the Southern States.”. Also includes family names of Anderson, Clinton, Fewell, Gregory, McFadden, Milholen, Miller, Neely, Poag, Shillinglaw, Williams, and others as connected to the Williford family.
