Historical Note
The Bellinger Family came to South Carolina in 1674, the Wannamaker Family in 1738, the Salley Family in 1735 and the Mackay Family in the 1790s. J. Skottowe Wannamaker (1869-ca. 1944) was a banker, businessman and farmer who was elected President of the American Cotton Association in 1919. He married Lillian Bruce Salley in 1896.
Scope and Content Note
The Wannamaker, Salley, Mackay, and Bellinger Families, Genealogies and Memoirs compiled by J. Skottowe Wannamaker of St. Matthews, S.C. chronicles the history and genealogy of these families and their arrival in South Carolina as well as the descendants through 1937. In addition to the genealogy, the volume includes short histories, obituaries, wills, documents, letters, and an index. Smaller amounts pertaining to other surnames are also included. Please see the attached index.
