Scope and Content Note
The Annie Perry Jester Letters consist of 13 computer printed pages of excerpts from the original letters written by Annie Perry (Mrs. James R.) Jester (Class of 1898) when she was a student at Winthrop, beginning in the fall of 1896 through January of 1897. The letters were transcribed and annotated by former Winthrop alumna (Class of 1946) and professor Louise Pettus. The originals are located in the South Carolina Library in Columbia. The letters give a good description of a student’s life at Winthrop in the late 19th Century.
