Scope and Content Note
Melvin Ernest Nunnery (1951-1991) was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives for District #44 (Lancaster and Chester counties). The Melvin Ernest Nunnery Papers consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, minutes, and other papers relating primarily to Chester County affairs, including civil defense, tax rulings, and home rule. There is also state and national level information on the death penalty, Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), gun control, “Laetrile” controversy, and mental health.
