The Rock Hill City Planning Commission was created May 1, 1957 to review all applications for development and municipal planning and provides recommendations to the Rock Hill, SC City Council.
Scope and Content Note
The Rock Hill City Planning Commission Records consist of memoranda, agenda notes, minutes, maps, application forms, and other records relating to the commission’s activities in Rock Hill, SC. Subjects include annexation, transportation, community development, mobile home ordinances, zoning, York General Hospital, land use, neighborhoods, and public improvement. The records were collected by Dr. Howard Federspiel, who was chairman of the Winthrop College Political Science Department and member of the Rock Hill City Planning Commission.

The records of the Rock Hill City Planning Commission were deposited with the Archives on July 1, 1979 by Dr. Arnold Shankman
