Scope and Content Note

The Rock Hill High School Reunion Collection documents the alumni and reunion activities of the Rock Hill High School Classes of 1940 and 1941. The collection consists primarily of two scrapbooks belonging to Ruby H. Whisonant (1924-2026), a member of the Class of 1941, as well as reunion memorabilia, newspaper clippings, alumni information, and obituaries.

The scrapbooks document aspects of Rock Hill High School history and the experiences of its students and alumni. They contain photographs of former students, Christmas cards, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia from the 1940 and 1941 commencement ceremonies. The scrapbooks also document alumni activities and events spanning several decades.

Reunion materials include programs, booklets, correspondence, and other memorabilia from the 50th reunion of the Class of 1940 and the 23rd and 50th reunions of the Class of 1941. These materials provide information about reunion activities and the members of each class. Newspaper clippings further document reunion activities, while alumni information includes address cards, lists of deceased alumni and spouses, and other information concerning former students.

The collection also contains obituaries for members of the Rock Hill High School Classes of 1940 and 1941, arranged alphabetically by surname. These materials provide information about the lives and accomplishments of alumni following their graduation.

The collection dates primarily from the 1940s through the 2020s and provides insight into the experiences of Rock Hill High School students and the continuing relationships and activities of the Classes of 1940 and 1941 after graduation.
