Scope and Content Note

This microfilm collection consists of published journals, legislative acts, reports, and resolutions documenting the proceedings of the South Carolina General Assembly and the South Carolina Secession Convention during the years 1860–1862. The publications include the Journal of the House of Representatives for the 1860 session; Journal of the Senate for the sessions of 1860, 1861, and 1862; Acts of the General Assembly passed during the 1860–1861 legislative sessions; and the Reports and Resolutions of the General Assembly for the 1861 annual session.

Also included is the Journal of the Convention of the People of South Carolina, documenting the proceedings of the state convention held in 1860, 1861, and 1862. This volume contains the ordinances, reports, resolutions, and other official records generated by the convention, including the proceedings related to South Carolina's secession from the United States and the state's early participation in the Confederate government.

Together, these publications provide a comprehensive record of South Carolina's legislative and constitutional actions during the pivotal years immediately preceding and following secession, offering valuable primary source documentation for the study of state government, politics, and the Civil War era.
