Scope and Content Note

The W.C. Sullivan Junior High School Yearbook Collection consists of two copies of Vista, the yearbook of W.C. Sullivan Junior High School, representing the 1961 and 1963 editions. These volumes document student life, school activities, and the broader educational environment during the early years of the institution.

Opened in 1959, W.C. Sullivan Junior High School served students in grades seven through nine and later expanded to include the tenth grade. In 1990, the school transitioned to W.C. Sullivan Middle School. The school was named in honor of Walter Caswell Sullivan, who served as superintendent of Rock Hill schools from 1938 to 1965 and previously held positions as a teacher (1920–1922) and principal at Rock Hill High School (1922–1938).

These yearbooks provide insight into the academic, social, and extracurricular life of students during the early 1960s, as well as the development of public education in Rock Hill.
