Scope and Content Note

The Luellen Senn Guyer Papers consist of materials documenting the personal, professional, and civic life of Luellen Senn Guyer, an educator and alumna of Winthrop College (B.S., Education, 1963). The collection includes a photograph of Richard A. Guyer and Luellen S. Guyer (circa 1970s), a letter from John M. Spratt Jr., and several membership certificates from hereditary and lineage organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century.

The collection also contains documentation for the Luellen S. Guyer and MSGT Richard A. Guyer Endowed Scholarship at Winthrop University, which provides financial support to students majoring in education or pursuing certification in elementary education, with preference given to students affiliated with the United States Marine Corps.

Guyer earned a Master of Education from East Carolina University in 1981 and taught for 25 years across three states before retiring in 2000 in the Newport area of York County. Together, these materials document her educational background, professional career, and civic affiliations.
