Scope and Content Note
This collection consists mainly of correspondence belonging to Susan Amelia McQueen “Sue” Barron (1898-1995) and her son, William T. “Bill” Barron. The correspondence to Sue Barron includes some correspondence dealing with genealogy and her involvement in the Daughters of the American Revolution. There is also a large collection of Christmas cards, dating from 1948 to 1961. The information regarding her study at Winthrop University includes receipts, letters from college officials, and two Christmas cards from President Henry R. Sims.
The correspondence belonging to Bill Barron includes letters written to him by family and friends, as well as letters and postcards sent to him by family and friends, as well as letters and postcards sent by Bill Barron to his parents, as well as letters and postcards sent by Bill Barron to his parents while he was in school and in the military.
Provenance
The papers of Sue McQueen Barron, homemaker, mother, and a student at Winthrop University in the late 1950s and early 1960s, were deposited in the Archives by Deann Segal in December 1994.
