Historical Note

The Pilot Club International was a service oriented club for women, however men can now be part of the club. The South Carolina District was founded in the 1930s for “the promotion of social welfare through the performance of civil and beneficial service of the character generally accomplished by civic organizations, rendering aid and assistance to local Pilot Clubs and implementing at the district level the programs and policies of Pilot Club International.”

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of records from the South Carolina District Pilot International Club. The collection includes records from SCDPIC annual conventions as well as records regarding the district administrative council and fall council. Included are minutes, governor reports, treasurer reports, secretary reports, convention agendas, rules for the conventions, as well as programs and itinerary’s for convention proceedings. Also included are congratulatory letters to Jean V. Reames who received her commission to be Governor for the SCDIPC in 1990. The purpose of the Pilot International Club is to promote character development in civic organizations by aiding local Pilot Clubs, and executing the programs and policies of the Pilot Club International.

Provenance

The records of the South Carolina District Pilot International Club were received by the Archives on August 16, 1996 from Martha Seawright, the South Carolina District Governor.
