Scope and Content Note

The Ratchford Family Collection consists of materials collected related to the Ratchford Family of Union County, NC and Union County, SC. The Jones surname also appears throughout the papers. The collection consists of a Call to preach document to Rev. William Wallace Ratchford (1831-1921) to Tirzah Presbyterian Church in Union County, NC, legal documents including deeds to properties and a “Lien on Crops,” a Dixie Cotton Company financial ledger, photographs of family and friends, correspondence, school papers related to William Erwin Ratchford (1865-1944) who attended the Bingham School in Orange County, NC, and three college annuals belonging to family members.
