Scope and Content Note
The Interinstitutional Library Committee Records consists of correspondence, reports, memos, minutes, pamphlets, suggestions submitted by members of the institutional library, and general information concerning the committee. The Interinstitutional Library Committee was organized in 1964 by the South Carolina Council of Presidents of the State Institutions of Higher Learning “to promote closer working cooperation between libraries and their staffs. Winthrop President Charles S. Davis was Chairman of the Council and appointed J. W. Gourlay of Clemson University as the first Chairman of the Interinstitutional Library Committee for South Carolina and the committee was composed of the Head Librarian of each of the state supported schools at the time.
