Scope and Content Note

The Presbyterian Church of the United States Coalition on Health was “an advisory group of Presbyterians whose primary function was to: (1) to advise the General Assembly Mission Board in the areas of health care; (2) to define the nature of the health ministry of the P.C.U.S; and (3) to assist local churches in responding to health concerns.” The collection includes correspondence, speeches, minutes of the Coalition on Health from the years 1977-1979 and the 1974, Conference at Montreat, reference materials and papers relating to national health care, insurance, separation of church and state, international health, and interest groups, a legal docket pertaining to the reproductive freedom project, and papers relating to the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights and League of Women Voters.

Provenance

The papers of Presbyterian Church of the United States Coalition on Health Records were deposited in the Winthrop University Archives and Special Collections by Mrs. Ann Bellew on July 1, 1982.
