Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of a prayer meeting record book kept by Reverend Edward King Hardin, Jr. (1884-1918). The record book describes prayer meetings held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC from January to May 1912. The descriptions start with the number of attendees, the weather, topics for discussion, and what happened. Edward Hardin was a prominent Methodist minister who died during the influenza pandemic (Spanish Flu) of 1918 while he was the minister at Central Methodist Church in Ashville, NC. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, SC.
