Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of memorabilia collected by Gwendolyn Oliver related to Winthrop College. Some of the material relates to her coming to Winthrop for summer conferences while still in high school, while the rest is related to her undergraduate career at Winthrop from 1959-1963. She graduated from Winthrop with Bachelor of Arts in English in 1963. The collection consists of Carolinas Editor’s Conference certificates (1956, 1957), summer session notepads (1955, 1956), and summer session letterhead (1957). Also included are Rat Week Programs (1959), theater and music programs (1959-1963), “Sign Out” Cards (1959-1960), College Laundry cards, Student government Association Card (1959), Certificate of Award for Winthrop Alumnae Scholarship (1959-1960), and a program for “Off To College Banquet: Park Inn Grill” (1961). This collection offers a glimpse of life as a college student at Winthrop from the mid to late 1950s through 1963.
