The William Robinson Simpson Papers consists of photocopies of materials collected by William Robinson Simpson, Jr. (1902-1993) that relate primarily to line of the Simpson Family descended from John Simpson, Sr. (1770-1834). The collection consists primarily with genealogical materials related to the Simpson, Pride, Jones, and Sitgreaves families based mostly in Chester County, SC and York County, SC from the 1800s-1978s. Some of the genealogies extend as far back 400 AD. The collection consists entirely of photocopies of correspondence, receipts, ledger entries, legal documents (wills, power of attorney, etc.), newspaper articles, photographs, family narratives and biographies, and lineage charts.
Provenance
The W.R. Simpson Papers were given to the Winthrop College Archives and Special Collections by Mr. W.R. Simpson in March, 1984.
