Scope and Content Note

The Confederate States of America Records consist of 32 microfiche containing correspondence, orders and miscellaneous papers of the Fourth Brigade, South Carolina Militia, the State of South Carolina Adjutant and Inspector General’s Office, and the Military Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida during the American Civil War. The documents consist of muster rolls, lists of officers, etc. for Charleston and other South Carolina troops, including the Arsenal Guards, Beauregard Light Infantry, Charleston Light Dragoons, Dixie Rangers, Ferguson's Battery of Light Artillery, Lafayette Artillery, Marion Rutledge Mounted Artillery, Vigilant Rifles, Washington Artillery, and Washington Light Infantry.

The original Confederate States of America Records are housed at the South Carolina Historical Society. The Pettus Archives contain microfiche copies.
