Historical Note

The Rock Hill Body Company was located in Rock Hill, SC and was one of the earliest makers of truck and school bodies in South Carolina. The company can trace its roots to the Rock Hill Buggy Company and the Anderson Motor Company which were also based in Rock Hill, SC. The Rock Hill Body Company operated from 1915 to 1987 and was originally known as J. C. Hardin and Company which mostly repaired horse buggies, but was renamed in the 1920s after switching to motor vehicles. In 1937 the company moved into the building formerly known as the Victoria Yarn Mill #2 on West Main Street. This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Scope and Content Note
